It’s not enough to be a Bread Winner.

Matthew 4:4 AMP
But He replied, It has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God. [Deut. 8:3.]

Although culture is shifting rapidly, men still generally think of themselves as bread winners. We take the responsibility to provide the material needs of our families quite seriously.

The question ought to be asked though, is that enough? Is it enough to spend our days ‘hustling’ to give our families the so called necessities of life here and now, even if we completely ignore their needs for the hereafter.

Jesus said that human life cannot be sustained by physical food alone. In addition to being a Bread Winner,  men ought to be bread breakers too: they ought to ensure that their household receives it’s daily ration of the broken bread of God’s word.

Our kids may look well fed even as their souls are shrivelled from starvation. A man ought to pursue the spiritual welfare of his home with even greater zeal and energy than he expends in pursuit of their physical welfare.
